Directly from you: When you register, complete your profile, submit performances, purchase subscriptions, contact support, or participate in competitions.

Automatically: When you access the Platform and certain technical information is generated through your device, browser, or use of our services.

Through service providers: When authorised payment processors, authentication providers, or other service providers return information necessary to operate the Platform.

Through authorised third parties: Where you choose to connect an external service or where information is lawfully provided to us for a disclosed purpose.

We aim to collect only information that is relevant and reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this Policy.

7. LAWFUL BASES FOR PROCESSING

Reepeet processes personal information only where an appropriate lawful basis exists.

Depending on the purpose and circumstances, this may include:

Performance of a Contract: Where processing is necessary to provide services requested by a user, such as account access, subscriptions, learning activities, or competition administration.

Consent: Where a user has provided valid consent for a particular activity, such as optional marketing, certain cookies, or processing that otherwise requires consent.

Legal Obligation: Where processing is necessary to comply with applicable laws or lawful regulatory requirements.

Legitimate Interests: Where processing is reasonably necessary for lawful interests such as Platform security, fraud prevention, and service improvement, provided the required balancing assessment supports that processing.

Other Lawful Bases: Where another basis is expressly permitted by applicable data protection law.

We will not rely on consent where another lawful basis is the actual basis for processing, nor will we treat acceptance of this Policy as blanket consent for unrelated processing activities.

8. AUDIO RECORDINGS, VIDEO RECORDINGS AND AI PROCESSING

Audio processing is central to Reepeet's music learning and performance assessment services.

8.1 Collection of Performance Recordings

When you activate a recording feature, Reepeet may access your device's microphone or camera, subject to the permissions required by your device or browser.

Recording permissions are used to enable relevant learning, assessment, or competition features.

Where personal data is shared with such providers, Reepeet shall implement appropriate contractual, technical, and organisational safeguards.

Providers acting as processors shall be subject to appropriate restrictions concerning their use of personal data.

8.4 AI Model Training

Reepeet will not treat the submission of a musical performance as unrestricted permission to use that recording for unrelated AI model training.

Any use of identifiable user recordings to train or improve general-purpose or proprietary AI models beyond processing necessary to deliver the requested service shall require an appropriate lawful basis, clear disclosure, and consent where required.

The actual practices of Reepeet's AI providers must be consistent with this Policy and the applicable provider agreements.

8.5 Biometric Information

Musical recordings, including vocal performances, are not automatically treated as biometric identification data merely because they contain a person's voice.

However, where voice or other characteristics are specifically processed for unique identification or authentication, Reepeet shall assess and comply with any additional requirements applicable to biometric or sensitive personal data.

9. AUTOMATED DECISION-MAKING AND AI SCORING

Reepeet uses automated technologies to assess musical performances and generate scores or feedback.

For some competitions, these scores may materially influence rankings and prize eligibility.

We aim to provide meaningful information about the principal assessment criteria used in relevant competitions.

Where a decision is subject to applicable legal protections concerning automated decision-making, users may exercise their rights to request appropriate human intervention, express their position, or challenge the decision, as provided by law.

Reepeet shall maintain procedures for reviewing credible claims of technical error, incorrect scoring, or unfair disqualification.

Further details are provided in the Competition Rules and Prize Policy.

Reepeet shall obtain verifiable parental or guardian consent where required and apply appropriate protections to children's personal information.

10.2 Cash-Prize Competition Restrictions

Users under 18 years of age are strictly prohibited from participating in cash-prize competitions.

Age verification measures may be used to enforce this restriction.

We require processors acting on our behalf to process personal information only for authorised purposes and in accordance with applicable obligations.

12. INTERNATIONAL DATA TRANSFERS

Reepeet may use technology providers whose infrastructure or personnel are located outside Nigeria.

Where personal information is transferred internationally, Reepeet shall assess the applicable legal requirements and implement an appropriate transfer mechanism or safeguard under Nigerian data protection law.

Such measures may include recognised adequacy arrangements, approved contractual or other transfer instruments, or another legally permitted basis.

Reepeet shall not assume that using a foreign cloud or AI provider automatically makes an international transfer lawful.

Users may request further information about applicable transfer safeguards through Reepeet Support.

13. DATA STORAGE AND RETENTION

Reepeet retains personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes for which it was collected, including applicable legal, contractual, security, and regulatory requirements.

Retention periods may differ depending on the information involved.

For example:

Account Information: Retained while an account is active and for any additional period justified by applicable obligations.

However, Reepeet shall take appropriate steps to prevent unauthorised access, unlawful processing, loss, or disclosure of personal information.

15. PERSONAL DATA BREACHES

Where Reepeet becomes aware of a personal data breach, it shall investigate the incident and take appropriate containment, mitigation, and remediation measures.

Where required by applicable law, Reepeet shall notify the Nigeria Data Protection Commission and affected individuals within the applicable statutory timelines.

Notifications shall include the information required by law, taking into account the nature of the incident and the risks to affected individuals.
